This site is the Identity Provider (IdP) of the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB). This IdP is used for secure login to internal and external services, so called Service Providers (SP). For this purpose, the IdP is connected to the user directory of the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB).
This IdP creates the necessary relationship of trust and the organizational and technical framework for access to service providers (SP operators).
As part of the login process, the IdP first authenticate the user. This is done by entering the user ID and password. The login data is checked always at this IdP of the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB). The credentials themselves are never transferred to a SP.
After successful authentication to this IdP the information required to use the requesting SP (so-called attributes) are transferred to the requesting SP. Due to common used practice, this affects normally only the user ID as well as the display name. In exceptional cases, an SP can request from the IdP the transfer of more attributes.
To implement the principle of data minimization, this IdP provides requesting SPs only the user ID (e.g. "ranseier") and the display name (e.g. "Karl Ranseier") of the user. When an SP requests attributes (e.g. mail address, group membership, unique IDs etc.), can this be disallowed in the consent form of this IdP.
Any possible limitations in the function of the SP are not the responsibility of this IdP. In this case, the responsible operator of the SP must be contacted.
A once-given consent to the transfer of data can be revoked at any time by registering again at the relevant SP by deselecting the consent on the consent form of the IdP or towards the operator of the IdP with an email to IT-Support of the IGB. By withdrawing consent, the legality who based on the consent processing that took place until the revocation is not affected.
More information on data protection can be found in the Privacy Policy.
